Welcome to the Mathematics Department
The mission of the mathematics department is to provide our students with a robust education in mathematics that will give them the skills to succeed in a global community.
To accomplish this mission, the teachers of Nyack will collaborate to revise and update curriculum, share best practices, and incorporate technology. To enhance students' experience in mathematics, we will integrate the subject to real life experiences and to other disciplines.
New York State Math League
NYS Math League is a club in which students individually compete in math contests. The math contests give students an educationally enriching opportunity to participate in an academically-oriented activity and to gain recognition for mathematical achievement. The questions cover a variety of difficulty ranges and involve topics of interest to students. The key is to encourage students to enjoy a challenge and to learn from it to find problem-solving discussions stimulating. If you are interested in becoming a member of the NYS Math League, please email Ms. Tatti @ etatti@nyackschools.org. Once you email Ms. Tatti, she will provide you with the permission slip and zoom link. Our first competition is on Thursday, October 15 during lunch (10:30 – 11:00). All students are welcome! The next two meets will be during lunch on Tuesday, November 10 and Tuesday, December 8. You don’t have to compete in all meets in order to be part of the team.
