SPECIAL DISTRICT VOTE - FRIDAY, JANUARY 22, 2021                                                                                      (SNOW DATE - FRIDAY, JANUARY 29, 2021)

At its regular November 17 meeting, the Nyack Public Schools Board of Education approved three resolutions related to the District's proposed purchase of a 1.1 acre site at 366 North Highland Avenue, Upper Nyack. If ultimately approved by Nyack voters in a 2021 public referendum, the parcel under consideration would provide much needed additional vehicle parking and open space for students, families and community members.  There would be no impact to local taxpayers as a result of this proposed land purchase. The necessary funds ($687,500) have been set aside by the District, with no additional resources to be requested from the community.  Any proposal by the District to purchase land will include a thorough environmental review (SEQRA) to assess potential environmental impacts. The vote for the purchase of the property will be held on Friday, January 22, 2021.

VOTER REGISTRATION:   To qualify as a voter, you must be:

  • A citizen of the United States
  • At least 18 years old
  • A resident of the school district for at least 30 days prior to the day of the vote

In order to vote in the school budget vote and board elections, voters must be registered with the Rockland County Board of Elections or Nyack School District.  You are registered if you have voted in a general or school election at your present address in the past 4 years.  Am I registered?

TO REGISTER:  You may register with the Board of Elections, 11 New Hempstead Rd, New City, NY 10956 (845- 638-5172); or in-person at the Nyack Schools District Office, 13A Dickinson Avenue, Nyack. Photo identification and proof of residence is required.

ABSENTEE BALLOTS:  A registered voter who will be unable to vote in person on the day of the election must first complete an  APPLICATION FOR ABSENTEE BALLOT which can be downloaded here or obtained from the District Clerk by mail or in person at the Nyack Schools Administration Building, 13A Dickinson Avenue, Nyack. Upon receipt and review of the application, a ballot will be issued. Ballots must be returned to the District Clerk no later than 5:00 PM on the day of the vote.
