We proudly welcome Mr. Joseph Simoni as our new Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction.
Nyack Public Schools welcomes the esteemed Joseph Simoni as the district’s new Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Mr. Simoni was appointed by the Board of Education on September 16, 2025 and will begin his work with us September 29. As we step into the second month of the school year, he brings a level of expertise that completes our leadership team and is vital to the Superintendent’s cabinet and district vision.
With over two decades of experience in education, Mr. Simoni carries a proven record of leadership, innovation, and dedication to student success. Centered in his extensive resume, he seeks to serve in a school district with commitment, creativity, and compassion. Throughout his career and demonstrated success across New York State, Mr. Simoni has held roles that include Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, Assistant Superintendent for Pupil Personnel Services & Technology, and Director of Special Services. He has guided critical district-wide initiatives such as curriculum design aligned with the Science of Reading, implementation of instructional technology coaching, and expansion of social-emotional learning resources. In his new role here in Nyack, his vast understanding and development of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) will be a particular benefit.
Mr. Simoni is widely recognized for being student-centered, approachable, and a deeply effective leader in supporting all learners. Colleagues describe him as innovative and forward-thinking. He began his career as a Special Education Teacher in the Wappingers Central School District and has since held leadership positions in Pine Bush CSD, Carmel CSD, and most recently in Pearl River School District. He has played key roles in district safety planning, pandemic response, and creating collaborative programs to support diverse learners.
Mr. Simoni holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Mount Saint Mary College, a Master of Science in Teaching Reading from Mercy College, and Certificates of Advanced Study in Educational Leadership and The Science of Reading Microcredential through SUNY New Paltz. He has been a member of professional organizations including the New York State Council of School Superintendents (NYSCOSS) and continues to pursue professional development opportunities.
Superintendent Dr. Ruiz-Giovinazzi is delighted that Mr. Simoni is joining the RedHawk Team. “I am confident that Joe’s bold and brilliant capacity in all he brings to the table will help advance the vision and mission of Nyack Public Schools.
