Sarah Loveland-Gill
Sarah Loveland-Gill, Music Department Chairperson
Sarah Loveland-Gill joined the Nyack Music Department in 2020. Mrs. Loveland-Gill is a New York native, holding Bachelors and Masters degrees in Music Performance from Mannes College of Music/New School University; as well as Advanced Certificates in Music Education from Brooklyn College/CUNY; and Educational Leadership from Stony Brook University/SUNY. She plays a variety of musical instruments from woodwinds to strings and has taught Elementary through High School instrumental programs as well as Music Technology and Music Theater.
Mrs. Loveland-Gill's teaching experience began as a Teaching Artist with New York City Ballet, Midori and Friends, and The Manhattan New Music Project. These organizations provided music, art, writing, and dance instruction to NYC Dept. of Education Schools in underserved communities. She then taught at Westbury High School in Nassau County, eventually becoming the District-Wide Chairperson of Music. Later, she served as the Director of Fine and Performing Arts at Huntington UFSD in Suffolk County before returning to New York City and the NYCDOE to develop the Modern Band program and PS13Q.
As a musician, Sarah performed in a variety of area classical, musical theater, popular and film productions (woodwinds, strings), held a position of Principal Oboist in Filarmonica de Queretaro, Mexico, and was a member of a number of Irish musical groups (violin, pennywhistle, vocals). Sarah is also a Certified Healthcare Musician (with an emphasis on the harp) and a certified yoga teacher. She lives in Pearl River with her husband and two children.
